# Import posts from LinkedIn

Paste a link to a LinkedIn post to turn it into a testimonial, with the author's name, headline, profile photo and the post's images.

When a customer praises you in a LinkedIn post, you can import that post as a testimonial by pasting its link. Importing from social media links is available on Premium and Business. On other plans, the **Social Media** page shows **Upgrade to import** instead of **Import from URL**, and posts you imported earlier stay visible.

ReTestimonial imports LinkedIn **posts**, one link at a time. It imports the text of the post itself, never its comments, and LinkedIn recommendations can't be imported.

1. **Copy the post's link on LinkedIn**

   On a computer, click the **More** icon in the top right corner of the post, then **Copy link to post**. In the LinkedIn app, tap **More**, then **Share via**, then **Copy** (iPhone) or **Copy to clipboard** (Android). LinkedIn explains this in [Find the URL for shared content](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a1340792).

2. **Open Social Media**

   In your project, open **Social Media** under **Collect** in the sidebar, then click **Import from URL**.

3. **Fetch the post**

   Paste the link into **Post URL** and click **Fetch**. ReTestimonial reads the post and fills in the details.

4. **Check the details**

   Review **Name**, **Title (optional)**, **Company (optional)** and **Post Content**, and change anything you like. Name and content can't be empty.

   Sometimes ReTestimonial can read only the start of a LinkedIn post. The dialog then says **Content may be truncated.** Click **View original post**, copy the full text from LinkedIn and paste it into **Post Content**.

5. **Import it**

   Tick **Approve & add to Wall of Love** to publish the post straight away, or leave it unticked to review it first. Click **Import Testimonial**.

## Which links work

A link works when it points to a single post:

- `linkedin.com/posts/…`, the link **Copy link to post** gives you;
- `linkedin.com/feed/update/…`;
- `linkedin.com/embed/feed/update/…`, from a post's embed code.

A link on a country or mobile LinkedIn address, such as `de.linkedin.com`, works the same way. Links to a profile, a company page or a recommendation are rejected as an **Unsupported URL**. A shortened `lnkd.in` link gets **Short links can't be read. Open the link in your browser, then copy the post's address from the address bar and paste that.**

## What's imported

- the post's text;
- the author's name, and their LinkedIn headline as the title when ReTestimonial can read it;
- the author's profile photo and a link to their LinkedIn profile;
- the post's images;
- the date of the post, and its like, comment and repost counts when they're available.

ReTestimonial saves its own copies of the photo and images. LinkedIn posts have no star rating, so the testimonial has none.

## After the import

Without **Approve & add to Wall of Love**, the post arrives in **Pending**, where you approve it like any other testimonial. With it, the post is approved and added to your project's default Wall of Love.

The post also appears on the **Social Media** page under the **LinkedIn** filter, and under **All Imports** in the sidebar. On its card, click **Approve**, or open **More options** for **View original post**, **Edit** and **Delete**.

## If the import doesn't work

- **This social media post has already been imported to this project.** Each post can be imported once per project. If it's in **Archived** or **Spam**, which the **Social Media** page doesn't show, the message says so.
- **A reason, then "You can enter the details by hand below."** ReTestimonial couldn't read the post. Type the author's name and the post's text yourself, then import.
- **Rate limit reached** or **Too many preview requests**: wait a little, then try again.
- **This project has reached its hourly import limit. Try again later.** Each project can run up to 30 social media imports an hour.
- **Testimonial imported with warnings**: the post was imported, but its photo or some images couldn't be copied.

Only teammates with import access see **Social Media** in the sidebar and can import posts.
