A face
up front
changes everything.

Record a 30-second hello and drop it on your form's welcome page. Every respondent meets a person before they meet a question — and people answer people, not forms. Flip the toggle and feel the difference yourself.

A quick hello from Rachael 👋
Customer Success Lead at Havenpoint

We'd love to hear what's working for your team — and what isn't. Your words go straight to the people building the product.

01Why it works

Faces close.
Buttons don't.

A respondent who sees a real human asking will give you a real human answer. Three behavioral effects, working together — every time the form loads.

01
Reciprocity

When a person spends 30 seconds talking to you, a tiny social debt forms. Saying nothing back feels rude — so more people say something.

02
Trust collapses anonymity

A face is the fastest signal the human brain processes. Before a respondent reads a word, they've already decided you're a real company run by real people.

03
Tone unlocks tone

Casual, warm video → casual, warm written response. Stiff form fields → stiff fillable answers. The video sets the register the respondent matches.

02Script studio

Don't know what to say?
Say this.

The hard part isn't the camera — it's the first sentence. Pick a scenario, read the script at speaking pace, copy it, and swap the highlighted parts for your own.

Cancel-safe
Abandon an upload mid-way — even by closing the tab — and it cleans up after itself. No orphaned files.
Replace-safe
Re-record next quarter: the old video is removed only after the new one is live. The form never shows a gap.
Limit-free
Welcome and thank-you videos never count against your testimonial limits. They're furniture, not inventory.
04The player, honestly

Built for forms,
not for feeds.

Every control earns its place for a person about to fill out a form. Nothing autoplays, nothing follows them down the page — and nothing is listed here that the player doesn't actually do.

05The bookend

Ask with a face.
Thank with a face.

The thank-you page takes a video through the exact same uploader — same limits, same plans, zero extra setup. Someone just gave you two minutes of their day; a recorded thank-you is the difference between a receipt and a relationship.

06Field guide

Six rules of
actually-watchable
video.

No studio, no editing suite, no second take you'll actually need. Just the patterns that keep a 30-second hello worth watching.

01
Phone, held still

A phone propped at eye level beats expensive gear held badly. Front camera is fine — the player renders 16:9, so landscape frames best.

02
Window light, not overhead

Sit facing a window during the day. Soft daylight makes everyone look like a person; overhead light makes everyone look like a mugshot.

03
20–40 seconds, not five minutes

The cap is 5 minutes, but the video is the doorman, not the lecture. If you can't say it in 40 seconds, cut the middle.

04
First sentence is the hook

Start with a name and a why: “Hi, I'm Olly, and I read every word that comes through this form.” Don't open with a thank-you — earn it at the end.

05
End with the ask

Final beat: the specific action. “Three quick questions, about two minutes.” Concrete numbers beat vague appeals — then let the estimated-time chip back you up.

06
Re-record each quarter

Replacing the video is a safe swap — the old one is removed only after the new one is live. A fresh, current video always reads better than a dated one.

07Distribution

Recorded once.
Live everywhere the form goes.

The video is part of the form, so every way you ship the form ships the face with it — nothing to re-embed, nothing to keep in sync.

01
Hosted link

A ready page at retestimonial.com/form/your-project/your-form — or your own domain from Pro up.

02
Inline embed

Drop the form into any page section. Width, height, and border are configurable.

03
Modal

A button that opens the form in an overlay — trigger text and size are yours.

04
Popup widget

A floating launcher with exit-intent, scroll-depth, or timed triggers. Mobile on/off switch included.

05
QR code

A downloadable QR from the share panel — scans straight to the hosted form.

BUSINESSHosted forms can live on your own domain — the welcome video rides along, no extra setup.

09FAQ

Asked before
you ask.

Which plans include welcome videos?

Pro, Premium, Business — starting at $29/mo on Pro. Every plan, including Free, can use a welcome image and message instead, plus the estimated-time chip.

Does a welcome video count against my video testimonial limits?

No. Welcome and thank-you videos are form furniture, not testimonials — they never touch your testimonial limits or credits.

What are the format and size limits?

MP4, WebM, MOV files up to 100 MB and 5 minutes. The duration cap is enforced at upload, so there are no surprises after processing.

Can I add a thank-you video too?

Yes — the thank-you page takes a video through the exact same uploader, with the same limits and the same plans. Ask with a face, thank with a face.

Are welcome videos captioned or transcribed?

No — deliberately. Transcription is for testimonials; a welcome video should be short enough to speak for itself. Keep it 20–40 seconds and lead with your name.

Where does the video show up?

Everywhere the form renders: the hosted form page, inline embeds, the modal, the popup widget, the QR-code link — and on your own domain if the form lives there (Pro and above).

What happens when I replace the video?

A safe swap: the new video uploads and processes first, and only then is the old one removed. If you cancel or close the tab mid-upload, the half-finished upload is cleaned up automatically.
