Export and download social videos

Export a social video in up to four formats, download the MP4s, cover images and caption files within 24 hours, and retry a format that failed.

When the preview in the Social Video Editor looks right, export it. One export can make the video in up to four formats and counts once against your monthly exports. The workspace owner and the project's Admins can export. Download the files within 24 hours of the export: after that they can't be downloaded any more.

Click Export Video

In the editor's top bar, click Export Video. Beside it, the top bar shows how many exports of this kind you have left, such as 2 text exports left this month, or Unlimited exports.

If the button is unavailable, the reason appears beside it or when you point at it: for example, the recording is still processing, the preview is catching up with a change (Updating the preview…), or you've used this month's exports.

Choose the formats

In Export video, tick the formats you want, or All formats. The format you were previewing is ticked already. A format marked Upgrade isn't on your plan. Free exports 1:1; Pro, Premium and Business export 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 and 16:9. Click Export 1 format (or Export 2 formats, and so on).

However many formats you choose, it's one export.

Wait while it renders

For a video testimonial, the editor first prepares the recording (Preparing the video…, or one speaker at a time for Customer Montage). Then each format shows its progress.

You don't need to wait: click Close (keeps rendering). The export carries on, appears in your recent exports, and you get a notification when it's ready.

If a render takes a long time, the dialog stops following it and says Still rendering. The export hasn't failed and it's already counted, so don't export it again: find it in Recent exports (the clock icon in the top bar).

Download the files

When a format is done, click Video to download its MP4. Each format also has a Cover image, a still from the video to use as the cover on Reels or TikTok. A video made with a video template or Customer Montage also has Captions (.srt), a caption file for platforms that take captions separately.

Download every file you need within 24 hours of starting the export. After that the video, its cover image and its caption file can't be downloaded any more, and exporting the video again counts as a new export.

The 24 hours are the same on every plan. They count from when the export started, not from when it finished rendering.

Find your exports later

  • In the editor: click the clock icon (Recent exports) in the top bar. It lists your recent exports with a download button, Cover image and Captions (.srt). With several templates in the list, you can filter it by template.
  • On the Videos page: Recent Videos lists them with Download.

Both lists show only the exports you made yourself. A video that's still rendering shows its progress there.

How far back the lists go

Both lists hold your 20 most recent videos in the project from the last 7 days. Each format of an export is one video in the list, so an export in four formats takes four of the 20 places. A video older than 7 days is no longer listed. Nor is one with 20 newer videos after it, even if its files haven't expired yet, so download what you need before you export many more. When you've exported nothing in the last 7 days, the Videos page has no Recent Videos section, and the editor's list says No recent exports.

When a file has expired

A video stays in the lists for up to 7 days, but its files can be downloaded only for the first 24 hours. After that, both lists show Expired where the download button was, and the editor's list no longer offers its Cover image or Captions (.srt).

An expired file can't be brought back. Export the video again from the editor, which counts as a new export. If you saved the design as a template, start from it: see Save the design as a template.

Try again shortly in Recent Videos is different: the file is still there, but its link couldn't be created just now. Reload the page.

Retry a format that failed

If some formats fail, the dialog says Some formats failed; if none finishes, it says Export failed. Click Retry the failed format (or Retry 2 failed formats). If you'd closed the dialog, click Retry next to the export in your recent exports.

What a retry costs

  • Some formats finished: the export is already counted, so retrying the rest is free, even if you've used up this month's exports.
  • Nothing finished: the export isn't counted (Nothing was counted.). A retry then uses an export, like a new one, so you need one left this month. If every format fails again, it's given back again.

Either way, an export counts once at most, however many times you retry it. Plan limits lists how many exports each plan includes a month.

How long you can retry

You can retry for 24 hours after the export started, on every plan, and the dialog says so. A retry doesn't start the 24 hours again. After that, Retry is no longer offered and the format shows Failed in your recent exports: export the video again from the editor.

A format you retry is made as a new file, so it can be downloaded for 24 hours from the retry. The formats that finished the first time keep theirs, counted from the first export.

A retry also works only while your plan still includes everything the video uses, such as its formats, music or branding. Otherwise, export it again. For what a failed format's message means, see Social video export failed or stuck.

If the export doesn't start

  • The testimonial changed after the preview was made: the preview refreshes. Check it, then export again.
  • The preview expired after the editor was left open for a long time: it refreshes too. Check it and export again.
  • The renderer is busy — retrying…: the editor tries again by itself.

For any other message, see Social video export failed or stuck.

What counts against your exports

  • There are two monthly allowances. Text exports cover text and photo templates and Review Stack; Video exports cover video templates and Customer Montage. Social videos lists how many each plan includes.
  • An export counts as soon as it starts, so one that's still rendering is already counted. If none of its formats finishes, it's given back.
  • The allowances are shared by every project in the workspace and start again each month. On a plan with a limit, the Videos page shows how many Text exports and Video exports you've used this month, and Upgrade for more when you're close to the limit.
  • Deleting a project doesn't give its exports back: videos exported this month from a project you delete still count toward the month's allowances.

Save the design as a template

To reuse a design for other testimonials, click the share icon (Save or share options) in the editor's top bar, then Save as Template. Enter a Template Name and click Save Template. It keeps the template and its look, the format, colours, fonts, reading pace and length, captions, end card and branding. It doesn't keep the testimonial. Saving templates is on Pro, Premium and Business.

Saved templates appear under Your Templates on the Videos page; click one to start a video with it. Its menu has Rename and Delete, and Set as Default on a template made with a video template. A default template opens by itself when you start a video from a video testimonial. Text and photo templates can't be the default.
