Read your video analytics
See how often your video testimonials are played, for how long and to the end, in your widgets, on share pages and through their embed code.
Video analytics shows how your video testimonials are watched: views, watch time and how many viewers reach the end, plus plays inside your widgets and on each video's own pages. It's on Pro, Premium and Business, and everyone on the project can open it, Viewers included.
It covers your approved video testimonials; archived ones and spam are left out. A video imported as a link, such as one from YouTube, shows its plays in your widgets but no watch time or completion.
Open video analytics
Click Overview under Analyze in the project's sidebar, then Open on the Video Performance card.
You can also get there from:
- Video analytics on the Videos page under Share. That page is for social videos, but this report covers your video testimonials, not the social videos you export.
- The inbox: on the Approved page, click Show more on a video testimonial, then More > Video analytics. The report opens on that video.
Pick the period and the video
- 7D, 30D (the default), 90D or ALL.
- All videos, or one video from the list.
- All standalone, Embed only or Share only: which standalone plays to count (see below). This choice changes only the standalone figures.
Read the totals
The cards across the top:
- Views: every time a video was started, in your widgets, on its share page or through its embed code.
- Watch time and Avg duration (watch time per view). Watch time is an estimate; see How the numbers are counted.
- Completion: the share of views that watched at least 95% of the video.
- In-widget plays: plays started inside your widgets.
- Standalone plays and Standalone completions: plays of the video on its share page, or through the code from Embed video in the inbox's Share menu.
Below them, Video Performance Over Time charts views and watch time by day. Completion Rate Trend, In-Widget vs Total, Video Comparison and Avg Watch Duration appear once there's enough data for them.
Compare your videos
The Video Leaderboard at the bottom ranks your videos by views, then standalone plays. Click Inspect on a video to see its own figures: Overall Metrics (including Unique viewers), In-Widget Playback and Standalone Playback, with how many standalone plays passed 25%, 50% and 75%. Clear filter goes back to all videos.
How the numbers are counted
Every figure comes from the same events: a player reports when a video starts, when it passes 25%, 50% and 75%, and when it's watched to the end. Each one is counted as it happens, so the report is up to date when you open it: there's no delay to wait out. If a video was played and its views didn't move, see When a play isn't counted.
- Views are starts, so In-Widget vs Total always adds up: Other views are the standalone plays.
- Watch time is estimated from how far each view got. A view that passed the 50% mark counts as half the video, and one that stopped before 25% counts as nothing. Skipping ahead in a widget counts as watching up to that point, so treat it as a guide rather than an exact measure. A trimmed video counts only the part that plays.
- Unique viewers counts the browsers that started a video. Your widgets and the video's own player (share page and embed code) keep separate counts, so someone who watches in both is counted twice. A widget play can be tied to a browser only on Premium and Business, and only for a visitor who allows tracking. When any of a video's widget plays can't be, Unique viewers shows a dash instead of a partial count.
When a play isn't counted
A play shows in the report as soon as it happens. When a video was played and its views didn't move, check these:
- Plays in a Wall of Love aren't counted, and neither are plays in a widget added with the plain iframe code: those are counted in widget analytics without being tied to a video.
- A player set to Autoplay (muted) counts only once the viewer interacts with it.
- By default, a widget play isn't counted when the visitor's browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. It also isn't counted when the visitor hasn't agreed and Consent requirement is set to Require explicit consent. See Privacy.
Good to know
- A video imported as a link to another site, such as YouTube, counts its plays in your widgets, but not watch time or completion: it plays in that site's own player.
- Plays in your widgets are kept for 90 days, so ALL includes widget plays from the last 90 days only. Standalone plays are kept without that limit.
- Impact Snapshot shows the conversions credited to a video when you inspect it, on Premium and Business, for the date range you've chosen. Each conversion counts once, credited to the last widget view before it, and Attributed value shows one total per currency. For other attribution models and the full breakdown, use the Proof Impact report.
