Real pictures of your widgets and walls

Real pictures of your widgets and walls, redesigned Widgets and Wall of Love pages, builder reviews that follow you into your account, and one fix.

New

See what each widget really looks like

On the Widgets page, every widget now shows a picture of itself: your testimonials and your design, as a visitor sees it when the page loads. A floating widget is shown where it sits on a sample page, and drafts have a picture too.

The picture follows your edits. A new one is taken shortly after you return to the Widgets page, and Refresh preview in a widget's menu takes one when you ask. A widget with nothing to show yet keeps the drawing of its style.

A picture only shows approved testimonials. When one of them is deleted, rejected, archived or edited, the picture is removed at once.

See what each wall really looks like

Each wall on the Wall of Love page now shows a picture of the top of its hosted page, with your testimonials and your design. Drafts have a picture too. A wall with nothing to show yet, such as one with no approved testimonials, keeps the drawing of its layout.

The picture follows your changes. It's checked when you open the Wall of Love page and shortly after you finish editing a wall, and a new one is taken when the wall would look different. Refresh preview in a wall's menu takes a new one right away. If a wall's testimonials are set to appear in random order, the picture shows them newest first, and it always shows the original language, not a translation.

A picture only shows approved testimonials. When one of them is deleted, rejected, archived or edited, the picture is removed at once and a new one is taken the next time you open the page.

See your widgets as a grid, a list or a table

The Widgets page has three views, switched with the buttons beside the status tabs. Grid view shows the largest picture of each widget, List view one widget per row, and Table view the most widgets at once, with headings you can click to sort. Your choice is remembered in that browser.

The page now follows the room it has, so it fits with the Help panel open, in a narrow window or on a phone. On a narrow page the table gives way to the list.

Each widget has Edit and a button that fits its state: Copy embed once it's published, Publish for a draft, Restore for an archived one. Analytics has moved into the widget's menu. An Auto-sync or Proof Match widget is labeled with its mode instead of a count of hand-picked testimonials.

A clearer Wall of Love page

Each wall on the Wall of Love page is now one row with its state, its address, how many testimonials it holds and how often it has been viewed. Edit, Embed and Copy link (or Publish for a draft) are one click away. Preview draft, Rename, Duplicate, Set as default and Delete are in the wall's menu.

The page shows controls only when they have something to do. With one wall, you see just the wall. From two walls, tabs sort them into Live, Drafts and Needs attention, and you can switch between a list and a grid. From five, you can also search, filter and sort.

The page now follows the room it has, so it fits a phone, a narrow window or a window with the Help panel open. On a plan with no limit, the Wall of Love and Widgets pages no longer show an "Unlimited" count.

Your Google reviews follow your widget into your account

If you looked up your business in the free widget builder before signing up, its Google reviews are now imported into your widget when you open it, even if you first sign in a day later. Before, they came only when you opened the widget straight after signing up. They're approved on arrival and added to the widget, up to what your plan shows on one widget.

When fewer reviews are on the widget than the builder showed you, the Get code dialog says how many are on it and which plan shows more, with a See plans link. Reviews your plan has no room for aren't imported until there is room.

The import also starts sooner: your business is connected from the one you picked in the builder, and a review's photos are copied several at a time, so your reviews reach the widget sooner after you sign up.

Free plans keep the preset colours on a published widget

A widget on a plan without custom colours now keeps the six preset accent colours of the free widget builder and its theme's standard card, text and background colours when it's published. Before, every colour was dropped and the widget went live in the default accent. Any other colour is still left out until you're on a plan with custom colours.

See Customize a widget.

Sign-in explains an account that has no password

An account created with only an email address and a code has no password. Entering one on the sign-in page now says the account signs in with an emailed code and points to Email me a one-time code, instead of a general error.

Testimonials

  • A highlight with no color of its own shows without a stray ">". A highlighted phrase that arrived with a testimonial's text, not from the editor's highlight button, showed a ">" in front of it in the inbox, on the hosted Wall of Love page and in testimonial images. See Edit a testimonial.
