ImportReview platforms

Import Google reviews

Connect your business's Google listing, import its reviews as testimonials and keep new ones coming in with auto-sync.

Bring the reviews your business already has on Google into ReTestimonial. Each review becomes a testimonial you can approve and show like any other. Google review import is available on every plan.

Open Review Platforms

In your project, open Review Platforms under Collect in the sidebar. The Google Reviews tab opens first.

Connect your business

Click Connect Location, find your business by its name or with a Google Maps link, then click Connect Location under its preview. The location appears as a card on the tab. Connect a Google Business location has each step, the links that work and the messages you might see.

Import reviews

On the location's card, click Import. In the Import Google Reviews dialog, use the Reviews to Import slider to choose how many reviews to bring in. Tick Auto-approve all imported reviews if you want to skip the Pending step.

To leave out lower-rated reviews, set a Minimum Star Rating. This filter is available on Pro, Premium and Business.

Click the button at the bottom of the dialog; its label shows how many reviews you chose. Large imports can take a couple of minutes.

Where imported reviews go

Imported reviews arrive in Pending, where you approve the ones you want to show. If you ticked Auto-approve all imported reviews, they go straight to Approved. You can also find them under All Imports in the sidebar.

Each review comes in as a text testimonial with the reviewer's name and photo, the star rating, the review text, any photos and the review date.

Which reviews are imported

  • Reviews with text are imported. A review with photos but no text comes in with its photos.
  • Star-only reviews, with no text and no photos, are skipped.
  • Reviews below your Minimum Star Rating are skipped.
  • A review is never imported twice. Run Import again to continue with reviews you haven't imported yet.

If you looked up your business in the free widget builder

When you search for your business in the free widget builder and then sign up, your new account connects it and imports its reviews onto your widget for you: the written ones rated 4 stars or higher, approved on arrival, within the limits in Plan limits below. The widget you designed comes with you too: see Keep the widget you built before signing up.

If fewer reviews arrived than the builder showed, or none, see Google reviews from the widget builder are missing after sign-up.

Import new reviews automatically (auto-sync)

Click Sync on a location's card to check for new reviews right away. When your plan limits syncs, the button shows how many you've used this month.

To import new reviews on a schedule, open the menu on the location's card and choose Settings. Turn on Auto-sync reviews, pick an Auto-sync frequency (Monthly, or Weekly on Business) and click Save Settings. Auto-sync is available on Pro, Premium and Business. For what each setting does, see Keep imported reviews up to date with auto-sync.

In the same dialog:

  • Auto-approve synced reviews sends reviews from Sync and auto-sync straight to Approved instead of Pending.
  • Notify on new reviews, with Email notifications and In-app notifications, tells you when an import, a sync or auto-sync brings in new reviews. The email goes to the workspace owner.

Sync and auto-sync import new reviews at every star rating. The Minimum Star Rating filter applies only to Import.

If an automatic sync fails after its retries, the people who manage the project get a Google reviews couldn't be imported notification. In notification settings, this kind of notification is called Review sync needs attention.

Disconnect a location

Open the menu on the location's card and choose one of these:

  • Disconnect removes the connection and keeps the reviews you imported. They're listed under Orphaned Google Reviews on the Google Reviews tab.
  • Disconnect & Delete Reviews removes the connection and permanently deletes every review imported from that location, with its images. Confirm with Delete Everything. This can't be undone.

Plan limits

These limits apply to each project. The Monthly usage bar on the Google Reviews tab shows how many reviews you've imported this month. Imported reviews also count toward your plan's text testimonial limit.

Your plan also sets how many locations a project can connect: see How many locations you can connect.

Each review counts once. Deleting imported reviews doesn't give back your monthly allowance, and a review you've already imported can't be imported again, even after you disconnect and reconnect its location. To show a deleted review again, add it yourself: see Add a testimonial by hand.

Only teammates with import access can connect locations, run imports and change sync settings. Everyone else sees this page read-only.
