Add custom cards to a Wall of Love

Place your own call-to-action and social proof cards between the testimonials on a Wall of Love, and choose where each one appears.

Custom cards are your own cards placed between the testimonials on a Wall of Love: a call to action with a button, such as "Book a demo", or a piece of social proof, such as a customer count or an award badge. They're on Premium and Business, with up to 3 cards per wall on Premium and 3 on Business. Only the workspace owner and project Admins can add them.

Open the Custom Cards tab

In your project, open Wall of Love in the sidebar and click Edit on the wall's card. In the Content tab, choose Custom Cards. The top of the tab shows how many cards this wall has out of your plan's limit.

Pick a template

Click Add Custom Card. In Choose a Template, pick Call to Action or Social Proof, then click a template, such as Book a Demo, Free Trial, Award Badge or Customer Count. To start from scratch, click Blank CTA or Blank Social Proof.

The card is created straight away and opens for editing. Templates come with sample text and numbers ("10,000+ Happy Customers", "Award Winner"), so replace them with your own before visitors see the card.

Write the content

Under Content, write the Headline and Description, then:

  • Card Name is for you, to tell cards apart in the list. Visitors don't see it, and it isn't part of the wall's public data.
  • Image: click Choose image to pick or upload one, then describe it in Image Alt Text for screen readers. On a call-to-action card the image runs across the top; on an Award Badge or Trust Seal card it replaces the default icon, and on a Stats Highlight card it's a small icon under the number.

A call-to-action card has a Button box: enter the Button Text (left empty, the button reads "Learn More") and choose a Button Style: Primary (filled with the accent colour), Secondary (accent-coloured outline and text) or Outline (an outline in the card's text colour).

A social proof card has a Badge Type instead:

  • Stats Highlight: a big number. Fill in Stats Value (such as "4.9") and Stats Label (such as "Average Rating").
  • Award Badge and Trust Seal: the headline and description under an award or shield icon, or under your image.
  • Featured In: the headline above one image. There's no set of logo slots, so to show several press logos, put them together in one image.

The hosted page and the embed draw a card the same way. On a Stats Highlight card the Description sits under the label, and on a Featured In card under the image.

Under Link & Click Behavior, choose the Click Behavior of a call-to-action card:

  • Only Button is Clickable: the button is the link. The button shows only with this option, and only on call-to-action cards.
  • Entire Card is Clickable: the whole card is the link, and the button is hidden.

A social proof card has no button, so it has no Click Behavior to choose: with a Link URL, the whole card is the link.

Enter the Link URL, a full address starting with https://. The button uses this address; the Button box has no URL of its own. Without a Link URL, the card isn't clickable and its button leads nowhere (in the embed, it opens the page it's already on). Open in New Tab is on for new cards.

Choose where it appears

Under Placement & Size, answer Where should this card appear?:

  • After a % of the wall: move the slider (10–90 %) to put the card once at that point. At 50 % on a wall of 20 testimonials, it follows the tenth.
  • After a number of testimonials: set a number from 3 to 15. The card appears once: after that many testimonials if it's the first card on the wall, after twice that many if it's the second, and so on. If that point is past the last testimonial, the card doesn't show.

Choose a Card Size: Normal (1x1), Wide (2x1), Tall (1x2) or Featured (2x2). Sizes apply in a Grid layout, where Wide and Featured span two columns and Tall and Featured two rows. Other layouts don't span cards, so a card takes one place like a testimonial.

Leave Show in Embeds on to show the card in the embed and on the hosted page, or turn it off to show it on the hosted page only.

Adjust the colours

Under Style Overrides, you can set a Background Color, Text Color and Accent Color for this card; left empty, each follows the wall's theme. The accent colours the Primary and Secondary buttons, a stat's number and the badge icon. For Border Radius and Shadow, switch from Inherit to Custom to set your own.

Save the card

Click Save Changes. Unlike the rest of the builder, card edits don't save on their own: the preview shows them as you type, but Cancel, Close or leaving the Custom Cards tab throws them away. On a published wall, a saved card goes live without publishing again, though visitors may see the previous version for a few minutes while caches refresh.

How cards are placed

  • A wall shows at most one card for every three testimonials, so a wall with fewer than three shows none. When there isn't room for every card, the ones higher in your list win. The tab warns you when this hides a card.
  • When two cards would land close together, the later one moves further down the wall, or is left out when there's no room.
  • Cards appear down the wall in the order of their positions, on the hosted page and in the embed alike. A card that's off for embeds takes no place there, so the others can sit a little differently in the embed.
  • On the hosted page, when a visitor searches or filters, the cards are placed again among the testimonials that match.
  • The builder's Embed preview shows where cards really land. The Hosted page preview is a short sample with every card that's on spread through it, so check the real positions on the live page.

Edit, reorder or remove cards

  • Click Edit on a card's row to change it, and Close to fold it away.
  • The switch on a card's row turns it off without deleting it; the row then shows Off. Cards that are off still count toward your limit.
  • A row shows No link when its card has a button and no Link URL. Add one, or the button leads nowhere.
  • Drag a row by its handle, or use its up and down arrows, to reorder.
  • The copy icon duplicates a card while you're under your limit.
  • To delete a card, open it, click Delete Card and confirm with Delete. This can't be undone.

The switch, the order, duplicates and deletions save at once. Duplicate in a wall card's menu copies the whole wall with its custom cards, up to your plan's limit.

If your plan changes

If your workspace moves to a plan without custom cards, the cards disappear from the hosted page and the embed. They stay saved and come back if you upgrade again. Until then, the builder's preview and the wall's preview page leave them out too, and the Custom Cards tab shows an upgrade prompt with your saved cards listed under it. You can Delete a card there, but not edit it or switch it on.

ReTestimonial doesn't report views or clicks for custom cards. To measure clicks, add campaign (UTM) parameters to the Link URL and read them in your own analytics.

What happens next

Visitors see your cards once the wall is published: on its hosted page, and in the embed for cards with Show in Embeds on. To set up the rest of the page, see Design your Wall of Love page. To put the wall on your site, see Embed a Wall of Love on your website. New to walls? Start with Create and publish a Wall of Love.
