Manage your walls
Find a wall on the Wall of Love page, set the default wall, rename, duplicate, unpublish or delete a wall, and read its card's picture and numbers.
Every wall in your project has a card on the Wall of Love page. From that card you set the default wall, rename a wall, duplicate it, take it offline or delete it. Only the workspace owner and project Admins can manage walls.
Open the Wall of Love page
In your project, open Wall of Love in the Share section of the sidebar. Each wall's card shows its picture, its name and its state: Live, Draft, Empty draft (a draft with no testimonials) or No testimonials (published, with none to show).
Find a wall on the page
The Wall of Love page shows controls only when they have something to do. With one wall, you see just that wall. With two or more, tabs sort the walls into Live, Drafts and Needs attention, and you can switch between a list and a grid. With five or more, you can also search by name or address, filter by Embed layout and Source, and sort the walls.
Needs attention lists the walls with no testimonials to show, and a default wall that's still a draft. Source is how a wall is filled: Curated or Auto-sync.
Use the buttons and the menu on its card
- Edit, or a click on the wall's name, opens the wall in the builder.
- Publish puts a draft online. On a published wall, the button is Copy link.
- Embed code… opens the wall's embed code.
- The three-dot menu holds Open live page (Preview draft on a draft), which opens the wall in a new tab, and the actions described below.
Set the default wall
The wall marked Default is the one your testimonial share pages link to, but only while it's published. To change it, open the menu on another wall's card and click Set as default.
A project's first wall is its default. The default wall is also the one an import adds testimonials to when you choose Add all imports to Wall of Love or Approve & add to Wall of Love.
While no wall is both the default and published, the page shows a notice that starts No published default wall: publish the default wall, or make a published wall the default.
Rename a wall or change its address
Open the wall's menu, click Rename, type the new name and click Save. In the builder, you can also click the name in the top bar.
Renaming changes the name only: the wall's address and its embed code stay the same. Visitors see the name as the title of the hosted page in a browser tab and in search results, unless you've set a Title under Search & social preview in the Hosted Page tab.
To change the end of the address, open the builder's Hosted Page tab, open Page address and edit URL. On a published wall this breaks links to the old address, but embeds keep working. A link you shared before the change opens a page-not-found error, and old addresses don't redirect. While you're still in the builder, a warning under the field names the address that will stop working, and Restore the old URL puts it back. To share the new address, open Share in the top bar and click Copy link. For a moment after the change, the menu says the new address isn't saved yet: wait until it shows the address.
Duplicate a wall
Open the wall's menu and click Duplicate. The copy is a draft named after the original, with "Copy" added. It has the original's testimonials and their order, its rules, its design and settings and its custom cards, and the original stays as it was.
The copy gets an address and an embed code of its own, and its view counts start at zero. It counts toward your plan's limit, so Duplicate is unavailable once you've reached it, and anything your plan doesn't include is left out of the copy.
Unpublish a wall
To take a wall offline, click Unpublish in the builder's top bar or in the menu on the wall's card. It happens at once, without asking you first, and the wall goes back to a draft:
- Its link opens a page-not-found error.
- Its embed shows nothing on your website, within a few minutes.
- Your share pages lose their View our Wall of Love button, if this is the default wall.
- A form's Thank You page with a Show Wall of Love Button for this wall stops showing the button, and shows it again when you publish the wall.
Nothing is deleted. The wall keeps its address, its embed code and its settings, so Publish on its card brings all of it back.
Delete a wall
Deleting a wall can't be undone, and its embed code never works again.
- Open the wall's menu and click Delete.
- In Delete this wall?, check the wall's name and click Delete wall.
A deleted wall goes offline the way an unpublished one does, for good, and more goes with it:
- Its embed code. Websites that carry it show nothing in its place. A new wall has a new code, so replace the old code on your site.
- Its settings, its choice and order of testimonials, its custom cards and its view counts. The testimonials themselves stay in your inbox, and on your other walls and widgets.
To make an old link work again, create a wall with the same URL slug and publish it.
If you delete the default wall, another wall becomes the default: a published one if you have one, otherwise the newest. With no wall left, the next wall you create becomes the default.
The picture on each wall's card
Each wall's card on the Wall of Love page shows a picture of the top of its hosted page, with your testimonials and your design. Drafts have one too. A wall with nothing to show yet, such as one with no approved testimonials, keeps a drawing of its layout, and a new wall shows the drawing until its first picture arrives.
The picture follows your changes. It's checked when you open the Wall of Love page and shortly after you finish editing a wall, and a new one is taken when the wall would look different. To take one yourself, open the wall's menu and choose Refresh preview. If the wall shows its testimonials in random order, the picture shows them newest first, and it always shows the original language, not a translation.
A picture only shows approved testimonials. When one of them is deleted, rejected, archived or edited, the picture is removed at once, and a new one is taken the next time you open the page. Deleting a wall deletes its picture.
The numbers on each wall's card
Under a wall's name, its card says how many testimonials the wall shows, then:
- page views: how many times the hosted page has been opened;
- embed views: how many times the embed has loaded on a website.
Both are totals since the wall was created, and they count loads, not people: your own visits count too, but Preview draft doesn't.
What happens next
Each of these changes takes effect at once, and the wall's card shows the result.
