Delete a project
Permanently delete a project with its testimonials, widgets, forms and files, and what to save or move out before you do.
Deleting a project removes it and everything in it for good. Only the workspace owner can do it: Admins and other teammates don't see the Danger Zone tab.
Save what you want to keep
Nothing can be restored afterwards, so first:
- Download your testimonials. In the project's inbox, click Options in the toolbar and choose Export to CSV. The file lists every testimonial with its author, rating, tags and more; videos, photos and other files aren't in it.
- Copy testimonials to another project, if you want to keep some in ReTestimonial. Click Show more on a testimonial, then More › Duplicate to other projects. Copies keep their videos and photos, but not their custom field values. A copy arrives approved if the original is approved, and pending otherwise.
- Download finished social videos you still want. Their files are deleted with the project.
Open the Danger Zone
In the project, click the gear icon next to the project's name at the bottom of the sidebar (expand the sidebar first if it's collapsed), then click Danger Zone. If the tab row is too narrow, it's under More. Click Delete Project.
Confirm
In the Delete Project dialog, type the project's name exactly as it's shown, then click Delete Project. When it's done you see "Project deleted" and land on your Projects page.
What's deleted
- All its testimonials, with their videos, photos, audio and other uploads, and everything about them: tags, translations, custom field values and AI analysis.
- Widgets. They disappear from your website. Remove their code from your pages.
- Walls of Love. Their pages stop working, and an embedded wall shows nothing on your site. Remove its code when you can.
- Forms. Their links, QR codes and embedded forms stop working.
- Share pages and video embeds. Their links stop working.
- Everything else in the project: imports and review platform connections, Smart Invites (emails waiting to go out are canceled), project and form webhooks, social video exports, image templates, analytics and settings, including uploaded fonts. Social videos exported this month still count toward your workspace's monthly exports.
- Its custom domain, if it has one. The domain is disconnected; you can then delete its DNS record at your DNS provider.
- Your teammates' access to it. They stay in your workspace.
Your gift-card budget and AI credits
The project's money isn't lost. Its gift-card budget goes back to your Rewards wallet, including the amounts set aside for gift cards that were still waiting to be sent: those gift cards are canceled. AI credits you set aside for the project go back to your purchased AI credits. If one of the project's gift cards is still being sent, the delete stops and asks you to try again later: nothing is deleted, and you can delete the project once the gift card is delivered or has failed. See Add funds for gift card rewards and Buy and manage AI credits.
Your plan and bill
Deleting an active project frees its project licence: you can create a new project, or reactivate a read-only one, without buying another. It doesn't lower your bill. To pay for fewer projects, lower Project licences on the Billing page; see Change your plan, project licences or seats. Testimonials in the deleted project stop counting toward your plan's testimonial limits.
You can delete a read-only project too. It wasn't using a licence, so that frees none. To keep it instead, see Project is read-only.
If deleting fails
- "Emails are being sent right now. Please try deleting the project again in a minute." ReTestimonial was sending emails and the delete waited a few seconds for them without getting its turn. Wait a minute and try again.
- A message about the project's custom domain. The domain couldn't be disconnected. Try again in a moment.
- "A gift card from this project is still being sent. Please try again later." Wait until the gift card shows as delivered or failed on the project's Rewards page, then delete the project.
What happens next
To keep a project but stop showing it, unpublish its widgets and walls or pause its forms instead. To close your whole account, see Manage your workspace.
