Import posts from X (Twitter)
Paste the link to a post on X or Twitter and import it as a testimonial, with the author's name, photo, images and the date it was posted.
When someone praises you in a post on X (formerly Twitter), you can turn that post into a testimonial. You paste its link, check what ReTestimonial fetched and import it. Importing posts from social media is available on Premium and Business.
Before you start
Copy the link to the post. On X, use the share icon on the post to copy its link, or open the post and copy the address from your browser. X explains both in How to link to a post.
The link must point to one post, like https://x.com/username/status/1234567890. Links on twitter.com and the mobile site work too, with or without www., and so does extra text after the post's number. Paste the whole link, starting with https://.
Open Social Media
In your project, open Social Media under Collect in the sidebar, then click Import from URL.
Fetch the post
Paste the link into Post URL and click Fetch.
Check the details
ReTestimonial fills in the author's Name and the Post Content, and shows their @handle, the like count and any photos in the post. You can edit the name and the text before you import.
ReTestimonial doesn't get a job title or company from X, so fill in Title (optional) and Company (optional) yourself if you know them.
Import it
To publish the post right away, tick Approve & add to Wall of Love. It's approved and added to your project's default Wall of Love. Leave it unticked to import the post as Pending.
Click Import Testimonial.
What comes in from X
- The post's text, and the author's name, @handle and a link to their X profile.
- The author's profile photo and the photos in the post, copied into ReTestimonial.
- The date the post was published, and its like and repost counts.
- For a post with a video, a video testimonial with the video's thumbnail. The video itself stays on X: click the thumbnail on the testimonial's card to watch it there.
Posts have no star rating, so the testimonial has none.
If a photo can't be copied, you see Testimonial imported with warnings with the details, such as Author avatar could not be downloaded. The rest of the post is imported.
After the import
The post appears on the Social Media page. Click Twitter / X to see only posts from X, or search by content, name or handle. You also find it under All Imports in the sidebar.
To approve a Pending post, click Approve on its card, or approve it in your inbox. Open More options on a card to Copy content, open the original post on X, Edit the text and author, or Delete the testimonial.
Each post is imported once
A post can be imported once per project. Links on x.com and twitter.com to the same post count as one post. When you import it again, you see This social media post has already been imported to this project. That's true even if the testimonial is archived or marked as spam. To import the post again, delete its testimonial first.
If the import doesn't work
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Unsupported URL. Please use a Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, or TikTok post URL. | The link doesn't point to a single post, or it doesn't start with https://. Copy the post's own link again. |
| A reason, such as X couldn't find this post, or it's private., then You can enter the details by hand below. | ReTestimonial couldn't read the post: it may be private or deleted, or X didn't answer. Fill in Name and Post Content yourself and import, or try again later to get the photos too. |
| Rate limit reached. | X is limiting requests for now. Wait the number of seconds shown, then click Fetch again. |
| Too many preview requests. Please wait a moment before trying again. | You can click Fetch up to 10 times a minute in each project. |
| This project has reached its hourly import limit. Try again later. | Each project can run up to 30 social media imports an hour. |
| Content needs at least 5 characters | The post's text is too short. Add a few words in Post Content. |
Who can import
Only the workspace owner and teammates with the Admin role see Social Media in the sidebar and can import posts.
On other plans, the page shows Upgrade to import instead of Import from URL. Posts you imported earlier stay on the page, and you can still manage them.
