Social media imports

Turn a post on X, LinkedIn, Instagram or TikTok into a testimonial by pasting its link. What comes in, which plans include it, and what can go wrong.

When a customer praises you in a post on X, LinkedIn, Instagram or TikTok, you can turn that post into a testimonial. Paste the post's link and ReTestimonial fetches the text and the author for you. You import one post at a time, from Social Media under Collect in your project's sidebar.

What you can import

  • Four networks. Posts on X (links from x.com or twitter.com), LinkedIn, Instagram (posts and reels) and TikTok.
  • One post per link. Paste the link to the post itself. A link to someone's profile isn't a post, and the dialog answers Unsupported URL. Please use a Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, or TikTok post URL.
  • Not Facebook. Facebook posts can't be imported.

Each network's guide, linked at the end of this page, shows which links work and what that network shares.

How it works

On the Social Media Testimonials page, click Import from URL. In the Import from Social Media dialog, paste the link under Post URL and click Fetch.

ReTestimonial fetches the post and shows it in the dialog, where you can check and change it before anything is saved: the author's Name, their Title (optional) and Company (optional), and the Post Content. The name and the text are required. Then click Import Testimonial.

What comes in

  • The post's text, which becomes the testimonial.
  • The author's name, their handle, their profile photo and a link to their profile. A job title comes in only when the network shares one.
  • The post's images, copied into ReTestimonial.
  • For a post with a video, its thumbnail. The dialog says Video will be linked, not downloaded: the video stays on the network, and the testimonial links to the original post.
  • The date of the post, and its counts of likes and comments, which show on the post's card on the Social Media Testimonials page.

What each post brings depends on the network and on what it shares at that moment. If the author's photo, an image or a video thumbnail couldn't be copied, you see Testimonial imported with warnings, with what was left out. Imported posts have no star rating.

An import is a copy of the post as it was. ReTestimonial doesn't fetch the post again, so an edit the author makes later doesn't reach your testimonial.

Pending or approved

An imported post arrives as Pending, like any new testimonial, so it doesn't show in your widgets until you approve it. Approve it with Approve on its card, or from your inbox.

To skip that step, tick Approve & add to Wall of Love in the dialog. The post is approved on import and added to your project's default Wall of Love page.

Where imported posts appear

The Social Media Testimonials page lists every post you've imported, newest first. Filter it by network with All Platforms, Twitter / X, LinkedIn, Instagram or TikTok, search by content, name or handle, or use Filter by tag. Each card's menu has Copy content, View original post (View original on a video post), Edit and Delete; which of these you see depends on your role.

Imported posts are also in your inbox and under All Imports, in the sidebar's Imports section.

Duplicates

A post can be imported once into each project. If you try to import one again, the dialog says This social media post has already been imported to this project. when you click Import Testimonial. Two links to the same post count as the same post, even when one has extra parameters or uses twitter.com instead of x.com.

When a post can't be fetched

  • The post is private, deleted or can't be read. The dialog shows an empty form and says why, followed by You can enter the details by hand below. Type the author's name and the post's text yourself, then import it.
  • The text is cut short. Some posts come in with part of their text, and the dialog says Content may be truncated. Open View original post and paste the full text into Post Content.
  • Too many requests. When you fetch or import many posts in a short time, the dialog asks you to wait before you try again.

Which plans include it

Importing posts by their link is available on Premium and Business. On other plans, the page shows Upgrade to import instead of Import from URL. If your workspace moves to a plan without it, the posts you've already imported stay, and you can still manage them.

Each imported post counts as a testimonial: a post with a video as a video testimonial, any other post as a text testimonial.
