Troubleshooting

Import link not accepted

Find out why a business, product, post or video link is refused or can't be read when you import, and which link each import page takes.

A link is refused for one of two reasons. It isn't the kind of link that page takes: a profile where one post is needed, or a link pasted on the wrong import page. Or ReTestimonial can't use what it points to: the post or recording is private or deleted, or the project already has it.

If the import ran and reviews are missing, see Imported reviews are missing instead.

Check this first

Each import page takes one kind of link. Check that yours points to a single listing, post or recording, and that you're pasting it on the page that takes it:

When the link is the right kind and the dialog still names a problem, go to the section for its message below.

On Review Platforms, paste a link to your own listing page, in this shape:

PlatformWhat to paste
GooglePick your business from the suggestions, or paste a Google Maps link to it: see Which Google links work
G2With an API token, the product's name exactly as G2 shows it. With Import from Any G2 Product, a link like https://www.g2.com/products/product-name
Capterrahttps://www.capterra.com/p/123456/Product-Name/
Trustpilothttps://www.trustpilot.com/review/example.com
Yelphttps://www.yelp.com/biz/example-business
Product Hunthttps://www.producthunt.com/products/your-product
App StoreThe app's App Store link or its numeric ID, with a Storefront where the app is sold
Booking.comhttps://www.booking.com/hotel/us/your-property.html

If a tab's connect button is turned off, you've connected as many listings as your plan allows: see Limits. The platform guides cover each platform's messages. Find yours under Review platform imports. For connecting a Google listing, see Messages you might see.

On Social Media, paste the link to one post, not to a profile. Any other link shows Unsupported URL. Please use a Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, or TikTok post URL. Facebook posts can't be imported. See Social media imports.

Each network's guide lists the links that work: X, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok.

A social post couldn't be fetched

When the post is private, deleted or can't be read, the dialog says why, followed by You can enter the details by hand below., with an empty form. Type the author's Name and the text under Post Content, then click Import Testimonial. If you see Content may be truncated., open View original post and paste the full text.

On Media Platforms, paste the link to a single video or episode on YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, Wistia or Vidyard, such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=… or https://vimeo.com/123456789. Any other link shows Unsupported link. Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Wistia, Vidyard, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or SoundCloud link. See Video and audio imports.

Each platform's guide lists the links that work on it. Find yours under In this section.

A video or podcast is private or can't be found

ReTestimonial can import only a recording anyone with the link can watch or hear:

  • This video is private or restricted (for a podcast episode or a track, This episode or track is private or restricted; for YouTube, This video is private, or its owner doesn't allow it to be embedded on other sites): ask its owner to share it publicly, then click Preview again.
  • Video not found - it may have been deleted or the URL is invalid (or Episode or track not found - …): check the link on the site that hosts it.

There's no way to type in a video's details by hand. If the customer can send you the file, upload it from your inbox: click Options, then Add a video.

A video may have embedding disabled

A warning that the video may have embedding disabled doesn't stop the import: you can still import it, but it may not play in your widgets until its owner allows embedding. Once they have, open the video's card on Media Platforms and choose Check embedding again in its menu.

The post or video was already imported

Social posts and media links are checked against the testimonials in your project. Importing one again shows This social media post has already been imported to this project. or This video has already been imported to this project. Once you delete that testimonial, you can import it again.

The Duplicates sections of Social media imports and Video and audio imports say which links count as the same post or recording.

A review from a review platform follows another rule: it's imported into a project only once, even after you delete it. See They were already imported.

Still stuck?

Contact us and include:

  • the page you pasted the link on: Review Platforms, Social Media or Media Platforms;
  • the link you pasted, or the listing's name;
  • the message you saw, word for word;
  • your project's name, and roughly when you tried.
