Import podcast episodes from Spotify
Paste the link to a Spotify podcast episode and add it as an audio testimonial that plays in Spotify's own player.
When a customer talks about you on a podcast, you can add that episode as a testimonial. You paste the episode's Spotify link, add who is speaking and import it. ReTestimonial keeps the link and the episode's details; the audio stays on Spotify and plays in Spotify's own player.
Before you start
Copy the episode's link in Spotify. Find the episode, click the three dots next to it (or right-click it), choose Share and then Copy Link. Spotify explains this for each device in Share from Spotify.
The link must point to one episode, like https://open.spotify.com/episode/…. The extra text Spotify adds after a ? is fine, and so is a language part after open.spotify.com/, such as intl-de/. A few things don't work:
- Links to songs, albums, playlists and artists. Only podcasts are supported.
- A
spotify:link. Paste thehttps://link instead.
A link to a whole show (https://open.spotify.com/show/…) is accepted too, but a testimonial is usually one episode, so use the episode's link.
Open Media Platforms
In your project, open Media Platforms under Collect in the sidebar. Select the Podcasts tab and click Import Audio.
Preview the episode
Paste the link into Video or Audio URL and click Preview. ReTestimonial shows the Spotify badge, the episode's image and its title.
If Spotify doesn't send an image, you see No thumbnail available, and you can upload your own image instead.
Add who's speaking
Fill in Customer Name; it's required. Email (optional), Company (optional), Job Title (optional) and Rating (optional) are up to you. Spotify doesn't tell ReTestimonial who the customer is, so these come from you.
Import it
Choose a Status: Pending (the default) or Approved. Tick Approve & add to Wall of Love to approve it and add it to your project's default Wall of Love in one go; Status switches to Approved when you tick it. Then click Import Audio.
What happens next
The episode appears on the Podcasts tab of Media Platforms, marked Audio; click Spotify above the list to see only Spotify episodes. It's in your inbox too, under Approved or Pending, depending on the status you chose. It's listed under All Imports in the sidebar as well.
The episode's title becomes the testimonial's text. To change the title, image, customer details or rating later, open the menu on its card and choose Edit. View on Spotify opens the episode on Spotify.
In widgets and on your Wall of Love, the testimonial shows the episode's image. When a visitor presses play, Spotify's player plays the episode.
Good to know
- An episode plays from the beginning. There's no start or end time to set for Spotify.
- An episode Spotify can't find. When Spotify says the episode is private or gone, the dialog shows This episode or track is private or restricted or Episode or track not found - it may have been deleted or the URL is invalid, and there's nothing to import. Check the link on Spotify.
- Yellow warnings. If Spotify doesn't answer in time, the preview shows a warning such as Request timed out, and the title may read Spotify Audio. You can still import, so open the link on Spotify first to check it's the right episode.
- An episode is imported once per project. Importing the same episode again shows This episode or track has already been imported to this project., whatever comes after the
?in its link. - Wrong kind of link. A link ReTestimonial doesn't recognize shows Unsupported link. Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Wistia, Vidyard, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or SoundCloud link.
- Import access. Only teammates with import access see Import Audio.
Plan limits
Importing from Spotify isn't limited to a plan. Each episode is a link, so it counts toward the same limit as your written and audio testimonials, not toward your video testimonial limit: that one is for videos customers record or upload.
- Free: 10 written, audio and linked media testimonials across your workspace.
- Pro: unlimited.
- Premium: unlimited.
- Business: unlimited.
Archived, rejected and spam testimonials don't count. At the limit, the import stops with a message that names it; see Plans and pricing.
