ImportVideo and audio platforms

Video and audio imports

Turn a video or podcast episode from YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Spotify and four more sites into a testimonial by pasting its link.

When a customer has already talked about you in a video or on a podcast, you can turn that recording into a testimonial by pasting its link. You import one link at a time, from Media Platforms under Collect in your project's sidebar.

What you can import

The Media Platforms page sorts the eight platforms into three tabs:

TabPlatforms
VideoYouTube, Vimeo and Loom
PodcastsSpotify, Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud
EnterpriseWistia and Vidyard

Paste the link to the video, episode or track itself, the way you'd share it. A link from any other site gets Unsupported link. Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Wistia, Vidyard, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or SoundCloud link. Each platform's guide, linked at the end of this page, shows which of its links work.

How it works

On the Media Platforms page, click Import Video. On the Podcasts tab the button reads Import Audio, but both open the same dialog, Import Video or Audio Testimonial, which takes a link from any of the eight platforms.

Paste the link under Video or Audio URL and click Preview. ReTestimonial fetches the recording's title and thumbnail and shows them with the platform's badge. Then type the customer's details: Customer Name is required, and Email (optional), Company (optional), Job Title (optional) and Rating (optional) aren't. Click Import Video, or Import Audio for a podcast platform.

What comes in

  • The title of the video or episode. It becomes the testimonial's text.
  • The thumbnail. When the platform doesn't share one, the dialog shows No thumbnail available and lets you upload your own image or add one from a link.
  • The platform's player, which plays the recording in your widgets (see below).

Who's speaking isn't read from the recording, so the customer's name and details are the ones you type, and no photo of them comes in. Neither does a transcript or the recording's description.

The preview may show a warning before you import. For example, a Vimeo video whose owner turned off embedding gets This video may have embedding disabled by the uploader. A recording the platform says is private, deleted or closed to embedding isn't previewed at all: the dialog says why, and there's nothing to import.

Where it plays

ReTestimonial doesn't copy the recording. It stays on the platform that hosts it, and when a visitor clicks play in one of your widgets or on your Wall of Love, it plays right there, in that platform's own player. So it depends on the recording staying available on that platform.

Approved or pending

The dialog's Status starts on Pending, so an imported recording waits in your inbox's Pending page until you approve it. Choose Approved to make it available to your widgets and Wall of Love pages straight away.

Tick Approve & add to Wall of Love to approve it and add it to your project's default Wall of Love in one go; Status switches to Approved when you tick it.

Where imported recordings appear

  • On the Media Platforms page, on its platform's tab, newest first. Narrow the list with the platform buttons (such as YouTube or Spotify), the search box or Filter by tag. Click a card's thumbnail to play it. The card's menu opens the original (for example View on YouTube), and has Edit and Delete.
  • In your inbox, as video testimonials (podcast episodes included), under Pending or Approved.
  • All Imports lists them as well, each on its platform's tab, beside your reviews, social posts and file imports.

Archived and spam items leave the Media Platforms page.

Duplicates

Each video or episode can be imported once per project. If the project already has it, even archived, the dialog says This video has already been imported to this project (or This episode or track… for audio) when you click import, and says when the copy is in Archived or Spam. The check compares the platform's own id for the item, so a short link, an embed link or a link with a start time counts as the same video.

Which plans include it

Importing from media platforms is on every plan. Each import is a link to a recording that stays on its platform, so it counts toward the same limit as your written and audio testimonials, not toward your video testimonial limit: that one is for videos customers record or upload. Rejected, archived and spam testimonials don't count.

  • Free: 10 written, audio and linked media testimonials across your workspace.
  • Pro: unlimited.
  • Premium: unlimited.
  • Business: unlimited.

When you've reached a limit, the dialog tells you when you click import, and nothing is imported. If you preview or import many links in a short time, it asks you to wait: Too many requests. Please wait a moment and try again.

Everyone on the project can open Media Platforms. Only the workspace owner and Admins see Import Video and can delete imported recordings. Members can edit them and their tags.
