Getting started

Collect your first testimonial

Take a new project from an empty inbox to one approved testimonial by creating a form from a template, sharing its link and approving the answer.

A new project starts empty. The quickest way to your first testimonial is a form: create one from a template, send its link to a customer and approve what they send back. To create a form, you need to own the workspace or be an Admin on the project.

Open Forms in your new project

A new project opens on its Pending inbox, which says No testimonials yet and offers three ways to get the first one: Add a testimonial, Create a form and Import. A teammate sees only the ones their role allows. The project has no form yet.

In the sidebar, click Collect to open that section, then click Forms.

Create a form from a template

Under Create your first form, click a template. Simple is the shortest for your customer: a star rating and a written answer, then their name and email. The other two are described in Build a collection form.

Enter a Form Name and click Create Form. The form builder opens, and the form is live straight away: the badge beside its name says Active.

Click Share in the builder's top bar. On the Link tab, click the copy button next to Form URL, then send the link to a customer, in an email or a chat message.

To see the form as your customer will, click Open form in the top bar. That's the live form: a testimonial you send through it yourself, to try it out, is saved like a customer's.

Approve the testimonial

When your customer submits the form, they see its Thank You page (see Set up your form's Thank You page), and their testimonial arrives in Pending. Unless you've switched those notifications off, the bell at the top of the dashboard tells you about it.

Click Back to leave the builder, open Pending in the sidebar and click Approve on the testimonial. It moves to Approved.

What happens next

Only approved testimonials can appear in your widgets and on a Wall of Love page, so your first one is now ready to show. Your project already has a Wall of Love page, and you can put testimonials on your own site with a widget: see Embed a widget on any website.

Good to know

  • Your plan sets how many you can keep. On Free, your workspace can hold 10 written testimonials across all its projects, and the number of forms per project is 1. Imported reviews count toward the same limit, and a testimonial you reject or archive stops counting. Once the limit is reached, your form turns away new written answers. See Plans and pricing.
  • A form can approve submissions itself. Turn off Require Approval on the form's Settings tab, and new submissions go straight to Approved instead of Pending.
  • You already have reviews somewhere else. Import them instead of asking again: see Review platform imports.
  • A customer sent you a testimonial by email. Type it in yourself: see Add a testimonial by hand. Ways to collect testimonials lists every way in.
  • A submission didn't show up. See Form submissions not arriving in your inbox.
