Import Trustpilot reviews
Connect your company's Trustpilot page, import its reviews as testimonials and bring in new ones with Sync and auto-sync.
Bring the reviews your company already has on Trustpilot into ReTestimonial. Each review becomes a text testimonial you can approve and show like any other. Automatic import is available on Business.
Before you start
You don't sign in to Trustpilot. You only need the address of your company's page there:
- On Trustpilot, search for your company's name or website and open its page. Trustpilot explains the search in How do I find a business on Trustpilot?
- Copy the address from your browser's address bar. It looks like
https://www.trustpilot.com/review/example.com.
Open the Trustpilot tab
In your project, open Review Platforms under Collect in the sidebar, then click the Trustpilot tab.
Connect your business
Under Automatic Import, click Connect Business. Paste the address into Trustpilot Business URL, check that the Business preview shows your company's Trustpilot address, and click Connect Business.
ReTestimonial looks the business up on Trustpilot, which can take a moment. The business then appears as a card under Connected Businesses, with its rating and its number of reviews on Trustpilot.
Start an import
On the business's card, click Import. In the Import Trustpilot Reviews dialog, choose how many reviews to bring in under Reviews to Import. The choices stop at your plan's reviews per import and at what's left of this month's allowance.
Tick Auto-approve all imported reviews if you want to skip the Pending step. Then click the button at the bottom of the dialog; its label shows how many reviews you chose.
While an import runs
The import runs in the background, so you can leave the page. The dialog closes with a message that the import is queued, and it usually finishes within a few minutes. Until then the business's card shows Import queued, then Importing…, and the page updates by itself when it ends.
- When it ends, the card shows the new Imported count and the Last synced time, and Monthly usage is brought up to date. If they don't change, reload the page.
- Each business runs one import or sync at a time. If you start another before the first one finishes, ReTestimonial tells you one is already queued or running.
- When the import finishes with at least one new review, you're notified. By default, the workspace owner gets an email summary.
If nothing has arrived after a while, reload the page and check the Imported count. Running Import again is safe: reviews you already have are skipped.
Where imported reviews go
Imported reviews arrive in Pending, where you approve the ones you want to show. If you ticked Auto-approve all imported reviews, they go straight to Approved. You can also find them under All Imports in the sidebar.
Each review comes in as a text testimonial with the reviewer's name, company and photo when Trustpilot has them, the star rating, the review's title and text, the date it was posted and a link to the review on Trustpilot.
Which reviews are imported
- Reviews at every star rating are imported. There's no minimum-rating filter for Trustpilot, so approve only the ones you want to show.
- A review with neither text nor a title is skipped. A review that has only a title comes in with the title as its text. A review that comes without a star rating is imported without one, with its stars hidden.
- A review is never imported twice into the same project, even after you delete it, or disconnect and reconnect the business.
- The number you choose is how many reviews ReTestimonial fetches. Reviews you already have are skipped, so an import can add fewer.
Import new reviews automatically (auto-sync)
Click Sync on a business's card to check for new reviews now. The button shows how many of this month's syncs you've used. Syncs are shared by every business in the project, and a sync counts once it finishes.
To import new reviews on a schedule, open the menu on the business's card and choose Settings. In Trustpilot Sync Settings, turn on Auto-sync reviews and click Save Settings. The Auto-sync frequency is Monthly. The card then shows an Auto-sync badge. Auto-sync runs once that interval has passed since the business's last import or sync. If you haven't imported from the business yet, the first one runs within a few minutes. For what each setting does, see Keep imported reviews up to date with auto-sync.
Sync and auto-sync only fetch reviews newer than the newest one you've imported. In the same dialog:
- Auto-approve synced reviews sends reviews from Sync and auto-sync straight to Approved. Import uses its own checkbox instead.
- Notify on new reviews controls how you hear about new reviews from Import, Sync and auto-sync. Turn it on, then choose Email notifications (sent to the workspace owner), In-app notifications, or both.
Disconnect a business
Open the menu on the business's card, choose Disconnect and confirm with Disconnect. This removes the connection and stops its auto-sync. The reviews you imported stay in your project, and the syncs you've used this month still count.
Plan limits
These limits apply to each project. The Monthly usage bar on the Trustpilot tab shows how many Trustpilot reviews you've imported this month; monthly counts start again on the first of each month. Each review counts once: deleting imported reviews doesn't give back your monthly allowance, and a review you add yourself doesn't use it.
| Free | Pro | Premium | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Connected businesses | 0 | 0 | 0 | 5 |
| Reviews per import | 0 | 0 | 0 | 100 |
| Reviews per month | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1,000 |
| Syncs per month | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4 |
When you reach a limit:
- Connected businesses: Connect Business is greyed out.
- Reviews per month: Import can't start, and Sync tells you no reviews remain this month. Auto-sync imports nothing until the next month.
- Syncs per month: Sync is greyed out until the next month.
If an import or sync fails after its retries, or an automatic sync is skipped because the month's reviews are used up, the people who manage the project get a notification: Trustpilot reviews couldn't be imported after a failure, or Trustpilot reviews not imported: monthly limit reached when the month's reviews are used up. In notification settings, this kind of notification is called Review sync needs attention.
Only teammates with import access can connect businesses, run imports and change sync settings. Everyone else sees this tab read-only.
