A clearer widget Settings tab, a Share menu for walls, and 56 fixes
A clearer widget Settings tab, one Share menu for a Wall of Love, gift card emails you can send again, import results you can reopen, and 56 fixes.
New
See where your widget is live
The Settings tab now starts with the widget's status. For a published widget it says on how many pages the widget was viewed and when it was last seen, next to Get code. A draft has a Publish button there.
Click that line, or Widget details, to see each page with its views over the last 30 days. A page shows up after its first visitor. The list is part of widget analytics, on Pro, Premium and Business.
See Customize a widget.
Know whether your custom script will run
A script with a mistake in it never ran on your site, and nothing told you. Custom JavaScript now checks the script when you leave the box. If it can't run, the builder shows the error under the box and marks the setting in red in the list. Your widget still shows either way.
A Wall of Love's Custom JavaScript has the same check. It's now under Developer in the wall builder's Embed tab, because the script runs on the embed only.
See Customize a widget and Embed a Wall of Love on your website.
Wall of Love: a warning before a new address breaks your links
Changing a published wall's address breaks every link you've shared, and old addresses don't redirect. The builder now tells you as soon as you change the URL: it names the address that will stop working, and Restore the old URL puts it back. Embeds keep working either way.
See Rename a wall or change its address.
Improved
Send a gift card's email again
Delivered under Recent Rewards used to mean only that the gift card was issued. If the email with its link bounced or was blocked, the page still said Delivered, and only our support could send it again.
A row now follows the email: Sending email while it's on its way, Delivered once it went out, and Email not delivered when it didn't reach the customer, with the reason under it. Send email again on that row sends the same gift card link again, to that address or another one. Nothing is charged a second time.
You're told when a gift card is skipped
A gift card isn't set aside when rewards are switched off for the project, the project's balance is too low, or a limit is reached. Until now nothing told you: the customer simply wasn't listed.
Everyone who can manage the project's settings now gets a notification that names the reason, at most twice a day for each reason: once for a gift card that will be tried again when you approve the testimonial, and once for one that won't be. While Enable Rewards is off, the Rewards page says so, with how many of your forms still offer a gift card.
Open an import's results again
History on the Import page now has View results on every import. It opens that import's results screen, with the rows that had problems and the report, however long ago it ran. Re-import opens the new import the same way, so you see its progress.
When an import fails, or is stopped because the project became read-only, you get a notification with the reason, and it opens that import's results. See Undo or re-run a file import and File import failed or skipped rows.
A Settings tab you can scan
The Settings tab was one long page. It's now a list of seven settings, and each row says what is set: for example Full width · max 1200px beside Size. Click a row to open it, and Back to return. Switches for the star rating snippet, the branding badge and Google Analytics are on the rows themselves.
A dot beside a name means the setting differs from its default, and Reset in an open setting puts it back. A setting your plan doesn't include shows a lock, and names the plan that has it.
Some names changed with it: Dimensions is Size, Branding is Branding badge, and Translations and Language & Texts are together under Translations & texts.
See Customize a widget.
See the size you set
Size draws how wide the widget will be on a desktop page as you change Width and Max width, and the preview outlines the widget's box while Size is open. A widget that floats over the page says Managed by this style there, and points you to its position settings on the Layout tab.
See Widget looks different on your website.
Star ratings in Google: see how ready a widget is
Star rating snippet now shows how many of the widget's ratings count towards star ratings in search results, out of the three that are recommended, and what is missing. On a widget whose testimonials you pick by hand, Add rated testimonials opens the testimonial picker with only rated testimonials shown. Test in Google Rich Results opens Google's own test.
See Can search engines see the testimonials in my widget?
Translations: see what's still missing
With Visitor's language or One fixed language chosen under Translations & texts, Translation coverage shows how many of the widget's testimonials are translated into each language. Translate in the inbox takes you to the ones that aren't.
Google Analytics: every event in one list
Google Analytics lists all six events a widget can send, each with its own switch, instead of adding them one at a time. An event you switch off keeps its name and parameters.
See Send widget events to Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager.
Wall of Love: the link and the embed code are under Share
The wall builder's Share tab is gone. Share in the top bar now holds Copy link, Open live page and Embed code…, and it shows how many things to fix before you share, such as a wall that's still a draft.
The tab's settings moved to where they apply. The wall's address is under Page address in the Hosted Page tab, Custom JavaScript is in the Embed tab, and the Branding badge is in the Design tab. To rename a wall, click its name in the top bar. On the Wall of Love page, a wall's Embed button is now Embed code…, and View live is Open live page.
See Wall of Love.
Wall of Love: see whether star ratings in Google are ready
The star rating switch is now Review stars in results, under Search & social preview in the Hosted Page tab. It shows how many of the wall's ratings count, out of the three that are recommended, and the search preview shows the line of stars. Test in Google Rich Results opens Google's own test.
Hide from search engines is a plain switch in the same place. A page hidden from search engines shows no stars.
See Design your Wall of Love page.
Where your widget is live: now on every plan
The list of pages a widget was viewed on was part of widget analytics. Every plan now sees it: the Settings tab's status says on how many pages the widget was viewed and when it was last seen, and Widget details lists each page. It's how you know the code you pasted works.
Each page's views stay with widget analytics, on Pro, Premium and Business. Without them, the pages are listed by when the widget was last seen.
See Customize a widget.
Fixed
Forms
- Each written question keeps its own answer. On a form with more than one Text Only question, the second box opened holding the first answer, and only one text was saved. The first written answer is now the testimonial's text, and the others are listed under Form answers in your inbox. See Add questions, ratings and required answers.
- The Thank You page's Wall of Love button follows its wall. After the wall was unpublished or deleted, or its address changed, the button opened a page-not-found error. It now opens the wall's current address, and is hidden while the wall isn't published. See Set up your form's Thank You page.
- The form builder's preview shows the top of a tall page. A page taller than the preview was cut off at the top, where it couldn't be scrolled to. See Build a collection form.
- The Simple template is described by the pages it has. Its card said "Single page"; the template makes three short pages. See Build a collection form.
- The embed code no longer breaks in the middle of a word. In the Share dialog a line could end
border-radius: 8pand go on withx;on the next. See Share or embed your form.
Widgets
- An Auto-sync or Proof Match widget asks before it's published with nothing to show. It went live empty without a word. The Widgets page also marks such a widget Nothing to show. See Publish, update or unpublish a widget.
- An archived widget can't be published until it's restored. Its builder still offered Publish, which put it live in one click. See Widget questions.
- Unpublish, and Archive on a live widget, ask you to confirm. Both took the widget off your website at once. Restoring a widget now says that it comes back as a draft. See Publish, update or unpublish a widget.
- Refusals in the widget builder say why. "Flush save failed" and "Forbidden" are replaced by the reason: the change that wasn't saved, a read-only project, or a missing permission. See Publish, update or unpublish a widget.
- A widget taller than the visitor's window records views. A view needed half of the widget on screen, which a long grid or list on a phone can never have. It now counts once it covers half of the window. See Read your widget analytics.
- Smaller fixes on the Widgets page. A hand-picked draft with no testimonials no longer offers Publish in its menu, the empty Archived tab no longer offers Create Widget, and the plan a layout needs is named from your plans. See Publish, update or unpublish a widget.
Forms, billing and Proof Intelligence
- A written question's Max Length applies from the start. The builder showed 2,000 characters for a new Text Only question while the form applied no limit until you typed a number. See Add questions, ratings and required answers.
- On Free, Add project capacity opens Billing with room for one more project. It preselected a single project licence, which is what Free already has. See Change your plan, project licences or seats.
- Generated documents are labelled in words. The Proof Intelligence window showed "CASE_STUDY" and "EMPHASIZED_TEXT". See Proof Intelligence.
- Deleting spam through the bulk action gives a waiting gift card back. Every other way of deleting a testimonial already did. See Rewards for testimonials.
Imports
- A filled-in template keeps its dates. The templates' own date column wasn't matched on the Map Columns step, so every testimonial came in without its date unless you picked the column yourself. See Import file columns and formats.
- An import that stalls tells you. It ended as Import failed with "Max attempts reached" and no notification. See File import failed or skipped rows.
- An import stopped by a read-only project says why. It read Import cancelled with no reason. It now reads Import stopped, with the reason on the results screen. See File import failed or skipped rows.
- A failed import says what happened in plain words. It could show the technical error that stopped it. See File import failed or skipped rows.
- The reports say what they hold. Review promised "the full list" and the results screen a "full report", and both were cut for a file with very many bad rows. Each now says how many issues there are in all. See File import failed or skipped rows.
- Auto-approve never archives. With Default status on Archived, auto-approved testimonials came in approved and archived at once. See Import testimonials from CSV, Excel or JSON.
- Two videos without text by the same person are both imported. The second was skipped as a duplicate of the first. See Undo or re-run a file import.
- A date saved as a spreadsheet number is read as a date. A cell such as 45306 became a date in the year 45306. It's now read as that day, with a warning that names it. See Import file columns and formats.
- An Excel file with only a header row gets the right message. It said "No columns detected"; it now says the file has a header and no rows. See File import failed or skipped rows.
Proof Intelligence and Proof Impact
- The Analysis state filter and the Proof AI window agree. A testimonial you edited after its analysis was "stale" in the window and Analyzed in the inbox's filter, whose Stale option found almost nothing. Both now go by the same rule, and so do the counts beside the filter's options. See Analyze your testimonials.
- Start Analysis shows what the run costs. It counted a credit for every stale testimonial, including ones you had only approved or tagged, which cost nothing. After approving many at once the button could be greyed out for a cost that wouldn't have been charged. See Analyze your testimonials.
- The inbox keeps up with a running analysis. After Start Analysis or Reanalyze nothing changed until you reloaded the page. See Analyze your testimonials.
- The conversion code no longer says every order is in US dollars. It sent
currency: "USD"with nothing beside it to say so. It's now a placeholder for the order's own currency, with a comment. If you pasted the code and sell in another currency, check that line. See Set up Proof Impact tracking. - A value that reads Unavailable says why. The report gave no reason when no conversion carried an amount. See Read the Proof Impact report.
- The Attribution tab opens without a filter you didn't set. Coming from Overview, it kept the primary event as if you had chosen it. See Read the Proof Impact report.
- The setup checklist ticks by itself. A step done on your site, or the first conversion, showed only after a reload. See Set up Proof Impact tracking.
Inbox and custom fields
- On a phone, a changed view can be saved over itself. After you change an open view's filters, the Views sheet shows Update view and Revert. A phone could only save the change as a new view. See Save and share inbox views.
- Moving a saved view up or down moves both views or neither. It was two saves in a row, and when the second failed two views ended in the same place. See Save and share inbox views.
- Add Custom Field shows every field type at once. The menu scrolled by a few pixels, with the last type half hidden. See Add custom fields.
Rewards
- Project Budget is shown before a project's reward settings are first saved. It appeared only after the first save or the first allocation, so nothing on the page said a budget existed. See Set up rewards for a project and its forms.
Privacy
- Deleting a testimonial clears more of what named the customer. The notifications that named them are removed, the emails about the testimonial in the Email Log are blanked at once, not after 30 days (one that was still on its way, within a day of going out), and for a multi-clip video the IP address and browser details of the recording go too. What a delete still keeps is listed in Security and privacy questions.
Billing and team
- An expired invitation is marked Expired, and the Team page says how many there are. It changed one word in small grey text while it kept holding a seat. See Invite team members.
- With an overdue payment, the Team page asks for the payment. It showed the upgrade prompt and called your team "kept from your earlier plan", although the plan hadn't changed. See Invite team members.
- The "activation is taking longer" notice clears by itself. The page stopped checking once it appeared, so it stayed even after the plan activated. See Billing questions.
- A billing button that is off says why. While a billing change is in progress, Review billing change and Cancel at period end have a line under them, and Manage billing and Invoices & payment methods stay available. See Billing questions.
- The seat message counts invitations by name. "Remove 1 team member" also counted invitations nobody had accepted; it now reads "team member or pending invitation". See Invite team members.
- Cancelling removes a change you had scheduled from the Billing page. The Change scheduled for renewal notice could stay after a cancellation, with a button that had nothing left to cancel. See Cancel your subscription.
- An invitation link opens sign-in for someone who has an account. It always opened sign-up. See Invite team members.
- An invitation link that no longer works says what may have happened. It said only "Invalid Invitation", also to a teammate who had just joined and clicked the email's link again. See Invite team members.
Wall of Love
- The "you're on our wall" email links to the wall the testimonial was added to. It always linked to the default wall. It's also no longer sent for a draft wall: those customers are emailed when you publish it. See Set up the emails a project sends.
Smart Invites
- Copy invite link gives the customer's own form. For a customer a routing rule sent to another form, or one invited before you changed the webhook's default form, it gave the campaign's form, and a testimonial sent through it wasn't counted as Responded. See Track invite campaigns and contacts.
- A test email is refused for an address on your do-not-email list. Send Test used to check only the addresses we've stopped emailing everywhere, so someone who unsubscribed from your invites could still get a test. See Preview and send a test invite email.
- A template can't be deleted while customers still wait for emails from it. Their remaining emails were then written from another template, with nothing shown. The message says how many customers are waiting. See Manage invite templates.
- On a plan without Smart Invites, the Invites page lists the webhooks you set up before, each with Delete. Their URLs kept answering, and nothing on that plan could switch one off. See Pause, change or delete a Smart Invites webhook.
- The Test tab says when the webhook is paused. It said the event would invite the customer, while a paused webhook discards its real events. See Test a Smart Invites webhook.
- Renaming a webhook renames its campaign. The campaign kept the webhook's first name. See Track invite campaigns and contacts.
- A refused single invite no longer counts toward the three tries per address. Trying a refused address again ended in "Too many requests" in place of the reason. See Invite one customer.
- The template preview can show a customer without a name or a company. An emptied Name or Company went back to the sample. See Preview and send a test invite email.
- Set as default can't leave a project without a default template. The two changes behind it are now saved together. See Manage invite templates.
- A custom webhook is proposed the name "Custom webhook invites". It was "your app invites". See Send invites automatically with a webhook.
- Messages about the invites you have left are clearer. The import's button reads "Send 1 invite" for one contact, and the warning and the refusal say that the number counts purchased credits. See Invite customers from a file.
