A borrowed URL asks for trust. A branded one already has it.
The ask is intimate. The address should be familiar.
You're asking a customer to put their face, name, and words on the record. On a domain they've never heard of, that request gets a flinch. On yours, it's just your brand asking — a white-label collection experience for the forms and walls your customers see, while your dashboard stays with us.
One link, everywhere it counts.
The URL in your email signature, your Instagram bio, the QR code taped to the counter — it reads as yours. No tool's name in the address bar of your own proof, and nothing to reprint when campaigns change.
Equity that lands on your ledger.
Once connected, your wall's canonical tag, og:url, and review schema all point at your domain. The search value your testimonial pages earn accrues to the domain you own — not to somebody else's.
You don't need to know DNS. Here's the one row you'll paste anyway.
DNS is your domain's address book. Every subdomain is a row answering one question: where should this name go? A CNAME row is the delegating kind — it says "for reviews.fernwell.com, ask ReTestimonial." You add exactly one row at the place you bought your domain. That's the entire job.
Your certificate is issued and renewed automatically (TLS 1.2 or newer). No extra DNS records — verification happens over HTTP the moment your CNAME resolves. Nothing to renew, ever.
Prefer to pre-verify before switching the CNAME? Optional TXT records are provided. Most people never need them.
This is the entire configuration. There is no step two.
The same three badges you'll watch in your dashboard. No mystery in the middle.
Paste your subdomain
Tell us the address — reviews.fernwell.com — and we reserve it instantly. Then add the one CNAME row at your registrar. Propagation can take up to an hour, depending on your provider.
We take it from here
The record resolved. Ownership gets confirmed and your certificate issued — we re-check automatically every 5 minutes, and there's a manual “Check status” button when you're impatient.
Live, with SSL active
Your forms and walls now answer on your domain, padlock included. From this moment, every link surface flips to your address on its own.
Connected domains are re-verified daily. If your DNS changes underneath you, we flag it and notify you — no silent 404s.
A setup that never verifies expires after 14 days. Nothing breaks — reconnect whenever you're ready and try again.
If Business lapses, the domain is disabled, not deleted. Links the product serves fall back to retestimonial.com automatically; the custom address itself stops answering until you re-enable it.
Everything your customers touch, one address.
The main way in. Hand out one clean address and every testimonial request starts on your brand.
Each form you publish gets a path of its own — per campaign, per product, per audience.
Published walls are served from the edge as cached HTML — and refreshed the moment you approve a testimonial.
edge-servedFlip it on. Don't find-and-replace anything.
The moment your domain reads Connected, every link surface in the product switches to your address on its own — and switches back just as gracefully if you ever turn it off.
The equity is yours.
While your domain is connected, it is the canonical address for your walls and forms — the links people share, the URLs search engines index, the schema they read. All of it points at a domain you registered and control.
And the exit is graceful.
Remove the domain or change plans, and every link the product serves falls back to retestimonial.com URLs automatically — those never stop working. Your subdomain stays yours to point wherever you like next. No lock-in dressed up as a feature.
Straight answers, no asterisks.
DNS, SSL, downgrades and what happens to links you already shared — the honest version.
01What's a CNAME record, in plain English?
DNS is your domain's address book, and a CNAME is the row that delegates: "for reviews.yourdomain.com, ask ReTestimonial." You add exactly one row at the place you manage your domain — name: reviews, value: domains.retestimonial.com. That's the whole setup.
02Can I use my root domain (yourdomain.com)?
No — custom domains are subdomain-based. reviews.yourdomain.com, love.yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com all work; the bare apex doesn't. Pick the subdomain that reads best on your links and QR codes.
03Do I have to set up SSL?
No. The certificate is issued and renewed for you automatically (TLS 1.2 or newer), with no extra DNS records — verification happens over HTTP once your CNAME resolves. Your dashboard simply shows "SSL active."
04How long does setup take?
Adding the CNAME row takes about a minute; DNS propagation can take up to an hour depending on your provider. We re-check automatically every 5 minutes, and there's a manual "Check status" button when you're impatient. If a setup never verifies, it expires after 14 days — you can simply reconnect and try again.
05Do my existing retestimonial.com links break?
Never. Your retestimonial.com URLs keep working permanently — the custom domain becomes the canonical address while it's active, so search engines consolidate on your domain without any old link going dark.
06What happens if I downgrade or remove the domain?
Every link the product serves falls back to retestimonial.com URLs automatically — including the tracked buttons in invite emails you already sent, because those resolve at click time. One honest caveat: a URL hard-printed with your custom address (a copied share link, an old QR sticker, a link pasted into a custom email body) stops answering while the domain is disconnected — it isn't redirected. On a plan lapse the domain is disabled rather than deleted, so you can re-enable it later without redoing DNS.
07How many domains can I connect?
One per project. Since Business includes unlimited projects, agencies typically run one project per client — love.theirbrand.com for each.
08Does my dashboard live on the domain too?
No — the domain serves your public surfaces: collection forms at the root and per-form paths, Walls of Love under /love/, plus a branded 404 page and an indexable robots.txt. Your dashboard, share pages, and the widget embed script stay on retestimonial.com.
