Form answers in the inbox, redesigned emails, and 64 fixes

Form answers in the inbox, photos and attachments kept from your forms, redesigned emails, and 64 fixes.

New

Read everything a customer answered on your form

A form can ask for more than the testimonial: what went wrong after a low rating, private feedback, a multiple-choice question, consent, a phone number. Those answers were saved and shown nowhere. Expand a testimonial in the inbox, or open its edit dialog, and they are now under Form answers. Only your team sees them: they are never part of a widget, a Wall of Love or a share page.

A testimonial whose customer gave negative feedback carries a Negative feedback badge, and the inbox has a Form feedback filter to list them. The low-rating notification opens the inbox on that filter.

Multiple-choice answers are now saved as the words the customer saw, so renaming or deleting an option later no longer changes an old answer.

See Collect negative feedback privately and Build a collection form.

Photos, logos, websites and image attachments from your forms are kept

The About You and About Company pages could ask for a photo, a company logo and a website, and a question could allow image attachments, but none of them reached the testimonial. They now do: the photo becomes the author's picture, and the logo, website and attached images are saved with the testimonial.

Customers can add up to three images to an answer, where that used to fail for everyone who was not signed in. Each picture is made smaller in the customer's browser before it is sent, so a large phone photo no longer stops a form from being submitted.

See Add questions, ratings and required answers.

Emails that are easier to read

Every email ReTestimonial sends for your project has a clearer layout. A customer's own words sit in a panel of their own, their details are a small table, and a reward code or a gift card amount is set large. Each email has one green button, and says at the bottom why it arrived. Anything a customer left empty is left out, so no email shows a label with nothing after it.

The texts you can edit are shorter by default. The email adds the testimonial, the customer's extra answers and the button by itself, so a text no longer needs the {testimonial}, {custom_fields} or link tags. A text you wrote before reads as it did. Two new tags greet by first name: {first_name} in form emails and {recipient_first_name} in Smart Invites. Both read "there" when you have no name for the customer. Two tags print differently from before: {type} is now in lower case ("video", not "VIDEO"), and {submitted_at} says that its time is UTC.

Smart Invites now open with your text instead of repeating the subject as a heading, and their footer says that your project sent the request. A template you have edited keeps your wording.

When you write to us from the help center's contact form, you now get an email that confirms we have your message, with its reference.

See Project settings, Customize your invite emails and Invite email merge tags.

Switch automatic analysis off for a project

Proof Intelligence analyzes testimonials by itself, for 1 AI credit each, and nothing could stop it. The Proof AI window now has a switch, Analyze testimonials automatically. Switch it off and that project's testimonials are analyzed only when someone asks for it: with Start Analysis or Reanalyze, or with a case study or emphasized text for a testimonial that isn't analyzed yet. The credits you bought are then spent on what you choose. It is on by default, and each project has its own.

See Buy and manage AI credits.

Fixed

Forms

  • A second multiple-choice question no longer replaces the first one's answer. Each single-answer question keeps its own answer, and each required one has to be answered. See Add questions, ratings and required answers.
  • A Thank You redirect in an embedded form moves the whole page. It used to load your page inside the form's box. A redirect delay of 0 now sends the customer at once. See Build a collection form.
  • The Thank You page's share buttons include the link to your form. Posts on X, WhatsApp and SMS carried no link, and a customer who came from a Smart Invites email shared their personal invite link. See Build a collection form.
  • A form no longer ends on an empty page. The last step used to show nothing but Back and Submit. Submit is now on the last page your customer fills in, and the step count matches. See Build a collection form.
  • Both "delete form" messages say what is deleted. The form, its pages, its analytics and its other answers go; the testimonials it collected stay in your inbox. The message also says when Smart Invites use the form. See Build a collection form.
  • Deleting a form gives back its waiting gift cards. A gift card that was waiting for approval used to stay Pending after its form was deleted, with its amount held out of the project's budget. The delete now cancels those gift cards and returns their amounts, and its confirmation says how many rewards are waiting. See What happens to my testimonials when I delete a form?
  • Changing a form's reward no longer strands a waiting gift card. When you approve, the customer gets the gift card that was set aside when they submitted, even if the form now gives a coupon or no reward at all. It used to stay Pending for good. See Rewards.
  • Form answers show only the questions your customer ended on. A multiple-choice question that appears only after a certain answer could be answered, then left behind when the customer went back and changed that answer. Its old choice was still saved and shown under Form answers. It is now left out, there and in what the form's webhook sends. See Build a collection form.

Inbox

  • Marking an old testimonial as spam no longer deletes it the next night. Spam is deleted after it has been in Spam for the retention period, counted from when it was marked, and the Spam page says so. See Keep spam out of your inbox.
  • Deleting a testimonial also removes the customer's details from the form submission behind it. The submission kept the customer's email address, IP address, browser and answers after its testimonial was deleted. They are now removed in the same step. The form's analytics and reward limits still count the submission. See Approve, reject and archive testimonials.
  • Export to CSV marks spam and adds columns. The file has a Spam column, the review's own date, and one column for each custom field; edited text is written as plain text, and a cell can no longer run as a spreadsheet formula. See Filter and search your inbox.
  • The inbox says why an action was refused. Approving, archiving or deleting showed "Failed to update testimonial" whatever the reason. The message now gives the reason, such as a read-only project or a plan limit. See Approve, reject and archive testimonials.
  • You can change a testimonial's star rating. The edit window has the stars and a Show rating switch. See Edit a testimonial.
  • A testimonial you add by hand says where it went. Added from Approved, it seemed to vanish. The message now says it was added to Pending, with a button that opens it. See Add a testimonial by hand.
  • AI actions show their cost and ask first. Create case study, Emphasize text and Reanalyze used credits on the first click. Each now shows its cost in the menu and asks before any credit is used. See Analyze your testimonials with Proof Intelligence.
  • A copy made with Duplicate to other projects keeps its review state. A pending testimonial used to arrive approved in the other project. See Delete a project.
  • Rejecting or archiving a testimonial keeps its tags. They used to be removed, and restoring it didn't bring them back. See Organize testimonials with tags.
  • An edit on the Archived page shows at once, without reloading the page.
  • Bulk editor is now Bulk delete, which is what it does, and is offered only to people who can delete testimonials. The Incentivize button, which did nothing, is gone. See Act on several testimonials at once.
  • Automatic analysis reaches a backlog. It used to look only at the most recently updated testimonials, so a large import, or the testimonials you had before your plan included Proof Intelligence, waited until someone clicked Start Analysis. It now works through everything that isn't analyzed yet, in batches, for 1 AI credit each as before. Its switch is now named Analyze testimonials automatically: switch it off for a project if you'd rather choose what is analyzed. See How analysis runs.

Imports

  • A link to a YouTube, Vimeo or Loom page in a file import no longer becomes a video nobody can play. The row is imported without the video, with a warning that points to Media Platforms. A direct link to a video file works as before. See Import testimonials from CSV, Excel or JSON.
  • Dates and ratings in a file are no longer changed silently. A date such as 13/04/2024 is read as 13 April instead of being dropped, and one that could mean two days gets a warning. A rating outside 1 to 5 is left out; it used to become 5 or 1 stars. See Import testimonials from CSV, Excel or JSON.
  • A picture that couldn't be copied during an import is reported. It used to keep its outside address without a word. See Move your testimonials from Senja or Testimonial.to.
  • Connected listings stay visible after a plan change. On a plan without a review platform's import, its tab hid your connected listings, so they couldn't be disconnected. They now stay, with Import and Sync off, and the auto-sync badge shows what your plan runs. See Review platform imports.
  • A queued Trustpilot or Yelp import shows on the business's card until it ends. See Import Trustpilot reviews.
  • A Google Maps link copied from your browser's address bar can be connected. It ended in "Failed to fetch location preview" every time, while the name search and the link from Share worked. See Connect a Google Business location.
  • A listing's Sync Settings can be saved after a plan change. On a plan without a platform's auto-sync, a listing that had it on refused every save, and auto-sync couldn't be turned off. You can now change its notifications and auto-approval there, and turn auto-sync off. See Keep imported reviews up to date with auto-sync.
  • Google and G2 email you after a manual import too, when Email notifications is on, like the other review platforms. See Import Google reviews.
  • Deleting on All Imports says what can't be undone: a review from a review platform can't be imported again. See Review and export imported content.
  • The Capterra, Trustpilot and Yelp tabs no longer tell you to install a browser extension. The extension isn't available to install yet, so its card is hidden until it is.

Widgets, Wall of Love, domains and videos

  • The builder shows what your plan publishes. On a plan without custom colours, the widget and Wall of Love builders took any colour and previewed it, while your website showed the standard ones. The builder now says so and previews the live result; your choices are kept for an upgrade. See Customize a widget.
  • A widget you just embedded reads Live the same day. The Widgets page said "No traffic yet" and told you to check the embed code for up to a day after visitors were seeing the widget. The status now counts today's views, and a widget with none reads No recent views. See Read your widget analytics.
  • Proof Match says where page tags come from. A rule with a page tag never matched unless your embed code carried data-page-tags, which nothing in the builder mentioned. The Page tags field now says so, and the simulator no longer starts with a tag your page doesn't have. See Set up Proof Match rules.
  • The builder's Settings tab opens Get code. It used to hold a second copy of the code without the placement name or the iframe choice, and a draft could not be published from it. See Embed a widget on any website.
  • The preview drops custom CSS your plan no longer publishes, so it shows what your visitors see.
  • A widget with no font chosen says so. Font Family reads Your website's font where it showed the word "inherit". See Widget looks different on your website.
  • Publishing a Wall of Love with no testimonials asks first. A hand-picked wall with nothing chosen used to go live empty. See Choose and order the testimonials on a Wall of Love.
  • A custom card's placement is named for what it does. "Every few testimonials" placed the card once; it is now After a number of testimonials. See Add custom cards to a Wall of Love.
  • Delete messages say more. Deleting a widget names it, and deleting a published wall says its embed on your website stops too.
  • A bare domain such as yourbrand.co.uk is refused when you enter it, with the subdomain to use. It used to be accepted and fail two weeks later. See Custom domain not connecting.
  • An exported social video says how long its files are kept: 24 hours, in the export window and on the Videos page. See Export and download social videos.

Insights and webhooks

  • A widget no longer stores a visitor id in your visitors' browsers unless your plan uses it. The widget wrote a visitor id and a session id on every plan, and our server threw both away on plans without Proof Impact. They are now written only where Proof Impact is on your plan. See Visitor tracking, consent and browser storage.
  • Proof Impact's Data Health card explains its numbers. Each of the six percentages now says what is counted and whether higher or lower is better.
  • A ledger export says it holds the first 1,000 rows, in the menu itself. See Read the Proof Impact report.
  • Form analytics uses one word for its view count. The device and browser charts count visitors; their names said "Submissions", and the trend chart said "Views".
  • The webhook delivery log's failure block is in plain words. It was titled "DLQ Analytics".

Smart Invites

  • A contact list saved with semicolons or tabs is read correctly. It used to be read as one column, and a whole row could pass for an email address. See Invite customers by hand or from a file.
  • An email template that a webhook sends with can't be deleted. Deleting it left the webhook without one, and every event it received then failed. The message names the webhook. See Customize your invite emails.
  • Cancel remaining emails asks first. It used to act at once, and a cancelled sequence can only be restarted from its first email. See Track invite campaigns.
  • A contact whose next email cannot be sent is stopped, with the reason. For example when its form or email template was deleted, or the address is on your do-not-email list. Such contacts stayed at "Invitation sent" for ever and could hold up reminders. A reminder you switch off now simply ends the sequence. See Smart Invites.
  • An email template can't be deleted in the same instant it becomes a webhook's template. The check and the delete now happen together. See Customize your invite emails.

Billing and team

  • Cancelling says what happens to your team. The cancel box now asks you to confirm, and says when teammates lose access and how it comes back. See Cancel your subscription.
  • Team members kept after a cancellation can be removed. They still counted as seats and could block buying a smaller plan, but no page listed them. Settings → Team now does. See Invite team members.
  • The plan table no longer lists "Zapier integration" and "API access". ReTestimonial has neither. To send testimonials to Zapier or Make, use a webhook, which works as before. See Webhooks.
  • The plan table lists only what a plan enforces. Four rows are gone: "Custom questions", Smart Invites "Analytics" (Basic and Full), "Background import" and "Basic AI (style generator)". None was a limit or a feature the product applies. Two tooltips now describe their features.
  • A limit message no longer tells a Business customer to upgrade. At a limit only the top plan can reach, it says what else to do.
  • A cancelled checkout says "Nothing was charged and your plan is unchanged." Two other billing messages are in plain words too.
  • A teammate is told when a shared workspace's projects are no longer listed, and whom to ask. See Project is read-only.
  • The plan table shows CSV export on every plan. It was listed from Pro, although the owner and Admins of any workspace could always export.
  • Someone whose team invitation has expired gets the welcome email when they sign up. They used to get neither the invitation nor the welcome. See Invite team members.

Projects

  • A read-only project says so on every page. A banner at the top says why, and tells the owner where to reactivate it or a teammate whom to ask. The first sign used to be a save that failed. See Project is read-only.
  • A new project's inbox offers a next step. It said "All caught up!". It now says No testimonials yet, with Add a testimonial, Create a form and Import. See Collect your first testimonial.
  • The project card's collection page icon shows only when that page exists, and the settings gear opens a tab a Member or a Viewer may use.
  • A project's logo shows beside its name in the sidebar. The sidebar kept showing the first letter of the project's name after you uploaded a logo in Project Settings. See Project settings.
